18 Power: Coach Eric Liebbrandt

This fall is my seventh season as Manager for Portland State volleyball. I’ve coached two club seasons with Northwest Juniors in Gresham, and last year served as the BLUES 16Power Coach.   I play adult club in the region and am currently finishing my degree in Political Science at PSU.  Outside of volleyball I play Dodgeball, Kickball and am an avid Runner.

16 Power: Coach Tracy Klosterman
Asst. Coach Mike Kwan

Tracy: I have played volleyball for 30 years and I LOVE it. I started in middle school, and ended up playing in college at Southern Oregon University. Unbelievably, I still hold several school records there! I transferred to UC Berkeley my senior year and learned how to play grass doubles volleyball. At Cal I also coached the JV mens team for one season and coached for the Golden Bear Volleyball Club for two seasons. I am Head Coach at Grant High School and have coached for five club seasons in Portland (Wilson VBC, MAC VBC, and Blues VBC). I play on a womens AA team.  I have had the privilege of experiencing a wide variety of coaches and some that are truly exceptional. I hope to bring the best of what I learned from them and all that I have learned from my experiences as a player to my team. My volleyball (and life) philosophy is simple: work hard and have a great attitude.

Mike: I learned how to play and coach volleyball while in graduate school at UC Santa Barbara.  I played several seasons in USVBA (now USAV) aAdult competition in Colorado Springs until accepting a coaching opportunity with the Dig2Win VBC, where I was head coach of the Boy’s 16U team.  After moving to the Northwest, I took time off from coaching to raise my family, until getting back into coaching as a Head Coach of the Nafanua 14U White team.  I have served as Assistant Coach for the St. Mary’s JV Volleyball team, and two years as 12U Blues coach.  Outside of volleyball I enjoy cycling, swimming and manage to take a surfing vacation back to UC Santa Barbara each year.

14 Power: Coach Nikki Jones
Asst. Coach Martina Hagan

Nikki: I LOVE VOLLEYBALL! I first started playing in 6th grade at All Saints, then went on to play as a setter/outside hitter at La Salle High School and in colleget at St. Mary's College of California. This is my 5th season as Head Varsity Coach at St. Mary's Academy and will be my 6th season coaching club. I was voted Mt. Hood Conference Coach of the Year in my 3rd season at St. Mary's, an honor I am very proud of and humbled by. I am so excited to coach 14 Power again this season with Martina as my assistant. Go Blues!

Martina:  I have been playing volleyball since the young age of 6; since then it has been my passion. I played club volleyball for West Metro, PVC and MAC. I was also a varsity setter and captain for St. Mary's. My senior year I was injured and had to stop playing but I found a new passion in coaching. This is my third year coaching for the Blues Volleyball club and this past high school season I was the assistant JV coach. I am looking forward to another great year with the Blues!

14 Force: Coach Jasmine Varela

I played volleyball in California since I was 10 and played 4 years at Cascade College. This is my 4th year at St. Mary's and 5th year as one of the 14's Blues Club coaches. I have a deep passion for the sport and for kids. I want to pass on to players, the love for the game and a desire to become a leader on and off the court. I am excited to have an assstant (Amanda) this year who is our JV2 coach at St. Mary's. Making a positive impact through sports and developing confident kids is my passion. I am excited to be coaching the 14 Force this year and am looking forward to the season! GO BLUES!
